Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jeanella may seem sarcastic and unfriendly, but she just doesn't like getting too personal with other people, afraid that strangers are judging and scheming against her all the time. Once she gets to know someone better, she is a lot nicer, and her snarking is seen as good-natured. Weird goings-on, magical or not, tend not to faze her, and she stays out of "big" things happening around her. Jeanella can be violently protective of her friends and family, even if she doesn't mean to be, and sometimes even apologizes to her enemies. Those who try to kill her for her shiny scales don't receive an apology, though.
