Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. But... where are its legs?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Baraa is thought to be some kind of serpent by most of the humans who have seen him around their towns. Of the humans who don't stay out of his way out of fear, many give their food scraps to him or try to catch him, sometimes both. They probably wouldn't try the latter if they knew his mother always observes them, unseen, though she wouldn't hurt anyone unless she's sure they wish harm on her son. Baraa hasn't figured out how to coherently broadcast telepathy yet, so the only things he says to them are chirps and hums. Some people claim that this snake is actually a juvenile xenowyrm and then list all kinds of facts and guesses about the particular type he must be, and he can only chirp at them in response.
