Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. This dull-colored hatchling enjoys playing in shallow tidepools, but it is too weak to swim for long.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As Quail likes to pretend he's a hagfish, which involves swimming without using his limbs and making burrows in the sand. He also happens to be a messy eater, and, luckily for his caretakers, he's not picky about what he's served. He's a snotty brat in his older siblings' view, one who has a talent for wriggling out of any problem or tight spot.
