Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Celestial Windshear is the cheerful daughter of Soul Cleanser, the Sacred Warrior Dragon, and his mate, Mystic Purity. Sweet and pure of heart, she can always win anyone over the instant she meets them. Even Sol Orb, the often-cantankerous leader her ragtag dragon clan, shows a particularly large soft spot for the young dragon. Despite of how dear she is to the entire clan, only Rockjaw, who is Celestial Windshear's best friend, knows about the young hatchling's unique talent. Ever since her birth, Celestial Windshear was somehow able to see into the hearts of any dragon she met just by looking at them. As a result, she could tell in an instant if a dragon was trustworthy. Out of concern that his young friend would be targeted by evil dragons like the clan's arch-nemesis, Devidra, if word of her talent got out, Rockjaw convinced Celestial Windshear to only share her gift with him. That way, if the clan's enemies ever got wind of her special talent, they would target him instead of her.
