Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

Utt the drake is one of the farm drakes, the only one there solely as a pet, since she isn't suited to any work, but the family didn't want to abandon her, either. She's very playful and will stand on her hind legs and lean and paw at her humans and some of the other animals to get them to play fetch and chase her. Though slow to understand things, she does recognize quickly when the person she wants to play with is busy or otherwise unable to play. People introduced to Utt sometimes ask about her name. The agreement went that whoever in the family witnessed the drake emerge from her egg first got to pick a name. The youngest daughter was that lucky witness and wanted to call the drake "Butt". That was vetoed by the other adults, but they offered a compromise by removing the B.
