Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Instead of her formal name, Granny Norm is referred to by only one term: "Monster." Heartless and vain, this dragon will do virtually anything to get what she desires. Often considered a sociopath, Granny Norm is said to believe that the world revolves around her, and that all other dragons are merely obstacles she must eliminate in order to live her life to the fullest. This "elimination" process is not simple—Granny Norm is one who tends to play with her food before biting it. She will usually pretend to befriend any dragon new to the clan, convincingly playing the role of a parent or playmate. She is feared and respected by most of her clan mates, who do not bother to warn newcomers for fear of feeling this monster's wrath. Once she has gained a dragon's complete trust, Granny Norm will use this to torment them both mentally and physically, whether it is by spreading rumors behind their back or by biting, and usually killing, their first egg.
