Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darkwing the Competitive is given his name for good reason. He must win at everything. No other dragon can catch more prey, fight better, or even fall asleep faster than him, in his mind. This can be extremely annoying and most stay away from him. Only the very tolerant can stay in the company of this boastful beast, who also insists on bragging about everything. However, with all of his flaws, Darkwing really is a kind dragon inside, though he doesn't always show it. He is fiercely protective of his loved ones and is actually very insecure, which is something no one would have guessed. This may be because neither of his parents gave him much attention when he was younger. He is secretly jealous when he sees baby dragons with their parents. His three brothers are Spined Determination, The Thrill of Victory, and Dark Shado. He has a sister, whom he does not know.
