Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arriving early one dawn, Lyricist spotted the eerie Vamp egg and immediately warned Mentha.  The little Mint looked at the egg, cryptically mumbled, "Let's try this," and bundled the egg into the Mint Garden.  Always carried by one of the Garden staff, raised on blood from the Verdant cattle herd, and taught from the time he left the egg that biting his friends and adopted family is a danger to all, the young Vampire was carefully raised in the middle of the Verdant School.  A couple of the local Dorkfaces confirmed that the egg was most likely a missing cousin, tragically egg-napped and bitten, and so the little hatchling was named CalaMystic Demonophobia Dorkface, reflecting his heritage.  Mystic, as his friends call him, controls his deadly Vampire impulse with the love and support of all who helped raise him.  He faces his unique life with grace, humor and kindness that endears him to those who would otherwise fear or kill a Vamp.  His life is proof the power of love.
