Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its two heads are both very calm.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Slither Junior was adopted by a Canopy Dragon, who tried to teach everything she knew about Temple Wyrms, alongside the usual survival skills. His goal is to live in the Seminal Gatehouse when he's older, since he believes in the tradition of finding an abandoned old building to call his home. The problem is that the Seminal Gatehouse is not abandoned, and there's no guarantee the occupants will vacate it by the time Slither is ready to leave his mother's care. He seems determined, though, saying it'll be deserted and it'll be his, and she's kind of worried that he intends to do something dangerous and stupid in an attempt to empty the place himself.
