Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When the human Ember found the egg of Velvet one night, it was teetering perilously on the side of a cliff, only there thanks to a tiny pebble blocking the way. Ember quickly called to her Magi dragon Taika, and begged her to perform some magic to save the egg, but Taika's wings caused wind and the egg slipped.  Taika raced behind it, quickly shooting out some magic to ease its fall. Ember jumped on the back of Celadonia and sped after her. The dragons and their caretaker found the egg sitting calmly, seemingly unharmed. Ember turned it over gently to reveal a small crack on its side. Assuming it had already been there, the trio took the egg back to their home in the highest mountain of Elgar. Sadly, when the egg hatched, they saw the effects of the fall. The little hatchling was blind. However, Velvet was content with this, and soon learned to use his other senses to the maximum. He still lives with Ember, and is often seen listening to the bird song in the trees.
