Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has two tails!

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wyvern is a young hatchling that wanders the area that a group of male and female Swallowtails inhabit with two other hatchlings. She likes to talk to them, but she's more interested in her own problems than theirs.

Wyvern seems to think that she is a Wyvern. This thought process has led the young female Swallowtail to keep her front legs clasped close to her chest. While this does make her balance sway every once in a while, Wyvern doesn't ever use her hands to stop herself from falling over. This has caused the hatchling's face and neck to acquire numerous scratches and her arms are very thin and bony from lack of use.

When one asks why she thinks she's a Wyvern, the Swallowtail answers with the fact that she had a genetic mutation. She says that she was supposed to have green scales and no arms, but her genetics seemed to have gotten mixed up. Wyvern believes that, someday, her arms will fall off and she'll become a real live Wyvern.
