It is no mystery where Howler Drakes got their names. Though not very bright, these emotive creatures employ an impressive vocabulary of loud chortles, shrieks, and songs to communicate with one another, and almost never stop chattering. Howler Drakes inhabit dense jungles, foraging in the fertile soil for mushrooms, tubers, and insects. When threatened, a Howler will flare its wings to display its bright red eye spots, while letting out an ear-splitting scream.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

User Description

In the Dandelionbrick Apartment, Strange Noises is the wake-up call for his humans in 3B and for the neighbors, too. He's alert and is thought to be able to sense intention. He acts as a guard drake for floors 2, 3, and 4, hence why those neighbors do not mind Strange Noises and his strange noises in the morning. Like a rooster, he crows loudly and wakes sleepers up without regards to when they actually want to wake up. Unlike a rooster, he does so because he's either hungry or wants to fly outside, not because he's asserting dominance. The vocalizations are favorable to bashing the windows and hurling his food tray. Strange Noises isn't particularly territorial and is generally quiet around strangers who visit the apartment, as long as they telegraph their actions. His owners wonder if he's ever courted another drake during his daytime flights.
