Amarignis Dragons are benign creatures, known for the brilliant flames veiling their backs. These flames are a manifestation of positive emotions present both within the dragon and in minds of those in their territory. Those with the most radiant flames are seen as the most beautiful—consequently, assuring happiness in their territory is a priority for an Amarignis, through a variety of means such as charming ballads, gifts and aid. As creatures with a fiery disposition (and perhaps a touch of vanity) adults compete with each other for territory to enhance their looks. While this can be achieved through conventional means like aggression, most charges of an Amarignis do not take well to a foreign Amarignis fighting the dragon that is so kind to them. Thus, to augment their allure, individuals gain territory from each other in a game of out-charming their inhabitants to gain their favor and positive energy. A settlement with a fervent Amarignis is a sign of happiness and well-being.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

This dragon was what a lot of townsfolk call a "gift of the mystery sky", which is a polite way of saying she was lost or abandoned with no hope of return to her original parents. She says her name is Joy—yes, befitting her breed, perhaps, but a coincidence. She was named after her adoptive father's grandmother, who was a fabulous chef, shrewd financier, and lover of purple. And, of course, Hearth is a family name. Joy, always aflame, can walk or hover around the building and town without presenting a danger, which puzzles her but is highly convenient. She is proud of her bright flames and toned body and a touch embarrassed that she behaves this vainly, but apparently, that is normal. She hasn't yet met any dragon like herself, so all she knows is what everyone else tells her.
