Geode Dragons are closely related to Stone dragons. They are covered in a hard stone-like material as well as beautiful crystal. Their wings are entirely useless for flight, but they help attract mates. The dragons with the most brilliant and colorful crystals are more likely to mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Stonewing was an enigma to everyone in the clan.  He was born to two earth dragon, so no one knew how a dragon of a completely different breed hatched from their egg.  Since his parents were of Gaira, he was given that same distinction, making it available for all stone or geode dragons.  While he doesn't often fight, he makes himself useful by giving Flamewing any scales he sheds, as they are very useful as magical gems.

     Gaira is one of the most common, but still important, distinctions in the Nightgaze clan.  It first included only earth dragons, but then extended to geode and stone dragons as well.  Most dragons of Gaira are incredibly strong fighters, and are often at the front lines of clan battles.  They can take a lot of damage, and can raise stone walls in protection, as well as being able to hurl large rocks at enemies.
