Frilled Dragons are smaller than most other breeds, but when threatened, they stretch out their wings and frills to appear larger. They generally do not like to fight and prefer hiding to confrontation. Frilled dragons live in small groups and often band together to scare off potential threats. Males also use their frills as a way to attract mates, with those displaying the “best” frills being more likely to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ridiculous Duke Frilled Lettuce was one of the first dragons of the Frill Clan. He is the clan's resident scholar, devoting himself to following lineages and preserving the clan's tales. He's often found telling stories to the hatchlings or writing poesy for the Queen's next fete.

He is never seen without his mate and bodyguard, Ridiculous Amazon Duchess Frill. She began following him after he was repeatedly heckled by a vocal but misguided critic. Some of the other dragons tease Duke about his wifely bodyguard, but Duke feels much safer and doesn't care what others think. He's very much in love with the Amazon Duchess. She's his biggest fan, and rather than feeling demeaned by her presence, he's honored. She would have served the Queen herself, but she chose to cleave herself fully to the Duke. With his fame and his gorgeous warrior wife at his side, he feels superior to any of his detractors.
