Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s clear that night is its favourite time.

And look! It has grown wings and turned red on its back! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling wanted to grow up into a lovely and pretty dragon. She had grown up around Tinsels and Lunar heralds and wanted to be as shiny and vibrant as them. Every evening and morning, she would shine her scales, dreaming about her beautiful shiny adulthood.

However, one day she found out how an adult bleeding moon actually looked like. In horror, she cursed herself to be young forever, so that she'd never grow up into the ugly destiny that was adulthood.
