Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Stockade is often found in a jailhouse, pillory, pen, or other place of confinement. To her, getting captured is the perfect way to study different kinds of humans in their "natural habitats". She has no problem applying magic, brute strength, or a silver tongue to escape, so no one in her family is really worried for her safety. Some have questioned why she doesn't hide on roofs or make herself invisible or something, but she's stubborn in her ways. It is so easy to capture Stockade that many humans in various towns, even those who've never seen her before, suspect that she is doing it on purpose. Because a behavioralist cannot tell subjects that they're being studied, she pretends to be upset about being confined, and she has more than two dozen prepared spiels for different situations.
