Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Strammer Max lives with humans. He is nobody's pet, but he likes being around them to observe their odd traditions, courtship habits, and the like. He's even accepted the silly nickname they gave him, after a dish (that at least is quite tasty). He's also perfectly fine with obeying their laws when possible. The denizens occasionally scoff at a dragon following decency statutes but don't make a fuss about him otherwise. Strammer Max is a pretty nice dragon—the worst thing he did wasn't that terrible a crime and he insisted on being tried and sentenced like everyone else. The first Christmas he spent in that town, he was so fascinated by their advent calendars that he stole one. He got 24 days.
