Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

All ClD wants to do is sit in front of his magic mirror and watch whatever the Blusang Broadcasting Coalition is showing, so long as it isn't news. If it wasn't for news, he would probably stay inside forever. One of his more ancient ancestors, who never quite got the concept of magic mirrors, claimed that if he watched too many "blusang broadcasts" he would turn into a blusang, and some of his friends think he actually wants this to happen. ClD's parents tell him he should learn and play because when he grows up, he'll need to be able to feed himself, but he doesn't see the problem. After all, his mother often remarks that every time she sees the Great Blusang Bake-off she gains thirty kilos. ClD thinks that will be plenty to keep him fed once he's grown up and doesn't need to eat lots to grow bigger.
