Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gaia, or Crius as he is most often known, is the caretaker of the land that Kaini's clan lives on. He lovingly tends to every little thing, from the grass that covers the clearnings to the tallest trees. Crius has a love of anything that grows, and as such spends a lot more time in the forest than he does socializing with the other dragons.

He has little to no interest in finding a mate, and his only friend in the clan is the dragon Halcyon autopilot, Hal.
