Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cazan, son of Varci and Zmiea, likes to think of himself as young and independent. Whilst not overly aggressive, he can take even the smallest gestures as a sign of a challenge. His determination and pride refuse to allow him to back down from any fight, whether he be losing, winning, or sorely outmatched, which can often leave him hiding in a cave nursing his wounds for days on end.

Though his mother keeps him close to make sure he stays out of trouble, she's not always there to keep an eye on him, particularly on those days where she leaves to go see his father, Varci. Personally, Cazan despises his father, and has refused any invitation to meet the Daydream dragon. He thinks him arrogant and selfish to not be able to give up his home in the sky to live with Cazan's mother, and would be more than happy to attack Varci upon first meeting.
