Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mother was once very outgoing and cold-headed but for some strange reason suddenly became very drawn in and short-tempered. She looks (and is) ferocious and forbidding, even dangerous; but she is gentle and kind at heart, always ready to help one in need, although as anonymously as possible. Mother's favorite lair—as is the case for most large dragons—is the highest mountaintops, from which she looks down upon the lands and can spot threats before they become dangers—a remnant instinct of the WarLore days (when young spirits were hot and too keen for their own good). She enjoys swooping down from above, her great bulk shadowing her prey before she dives and gives a death blow; it reminds her of a past in which, some think, she may have had a greater power.
