Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male Silvers hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Strong, proud and noble, like all of his lineage, Keyclock possesses a remarkable intellect and love for the skies, which certainly shows in his choice of mate: the nearly-sightless Nebula, Softglow.

Keyclock is gifted with the ability to see shapes in nearly anything—clouds, mud, piles of leaves, and doubtlessly the stars. Nearly single-handedly he has mapped the shapes he's spied in the night skies, recording them down by scraping them into the rock where old Nova Nebulae, the father of Softglow, resides. It's not likely the 'Key Constellations', as Nova jovially refers to them as, are known outside of Preto's weyr; instead, it's considered a basic way of learning to navigate by the stars, one for which the elder-dragons in the weyr are grateful.

His affection for his mate is unconditional, and although he is deeply protective of their offspring, Softglow will always be his priority.
