And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Reisei Seiya's name means "tiny Christmas eve."  He is greatly celebrated and fawned upon by his sire (Kigaru Kansei), as he is the first of Kigaru's offspring to turn out looking like him rather than the various females with which he'd bred.  Reisei is learning the illusionary magic of Christmas and is showing promise thus far.  A total pacifist by nature, he prefers to de-escalate tense situations between the other hatchlings by performing tricks to distract them.
