Setsong Dragons wake with the setting of the sun. They can be found hunting during the night, only to vanish into their lairs once the sun begins to rise. Their glossy feathers and scales are a deep purple, but the evening sunlight reflects off of their bodies in a beautiful red-gold shimmer. Setsongs are reclusive dragons, found alone or in small groups, and are fiercely territorial--and loyal, protecting their hatchlings and group just as stubbornly as their hunting grounds. These dragons have a respectable ability to weave magic, but only once the sun has started to set: the daylight weakens their magical powers, and their spells are most potent at night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sinking Shadows may be nocturnal, but he cannot sleep if there is any light at all. He tried dark caves, but he had problems with the cool, dank cave air and when he eventually did wake up, he hated having to blindly fumble his way out and usually miss most of the sunset. He tried human-style houses with thick curtains, but there was still light coming in through the gaps and keeping him up all day. Eventually, he commissioned a blanket infused with dark mana to create an aura of shadows around it thick enough that no light could get in and wake him up. It is great because when he is ready to rise, he can simply toss it aside to see the sunset and be ready for the night. Of course, he is still lazy, so when he wakes up he will often simply lie in bed under his covers of darkness.
