It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mysterianus' favorite holiday is the Festival of Eggs, and she oversees the local egg hunting activity for the hatchlings. It's a little different from the one held in other territories, though: the colored eggs are in plain sight—on the rounded pedestal in the public circle—but the baskets they go in are hidden. The hunters' goal is to find a Mystery Basket to hold their eggs, and when they do, they can either pick up any fumbled eggs or skip that and meet up with Mysterianus to trade their baskets for prizes. Mysterianus' friends and partner help cast and maintain the shield around the area that keeps everyone safe. They think her reverse egg hunt activity is a bit complicated, but everyone has fun with it and very few problems have arisen, so they're fine taking a couple of weeks off to visit her for a few weeks to prepare the spells and goods.
