Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Joyous Mordicant has a small plot where she grows alchemically-useful herbs for the reagent trade. Her most precious plant species is also the most innocuous-looking. Few pay any attention to the ordinary-looking moss that grows on the trees around Mordicant's weyr, especially when surrounded by everything from night-blooming iceflowers and fire lilies to tanglebracken and the occasional mouseshroom. But on nights where Cirion is full, one would notice the moss is—well, not actually a moss anymore. This rare plant is vital to potions to lift the werewolf-curse, and so is highly valuable. Mordicant takes great pride in maintaining the perfect environment so she can regularly harvest a lichenthrope crop.
