Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.
Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.
User Description
Sundancer is so named because of the way he seeks out sunbeams. As the sun moves across the sky, Sundancer flits from warm, sunny spot to warm, sunny spot, trying to stay out of the shade. It's a game, and a game he's content to spend all his days playing without a deeper thought. Every now and then, Ibiki the Storm dragon will mess with Sundancer, causing clouds to move too quickly and randomly for Sundancer to keep up with the sunny spots that well, but most of the dragons in Nadat's cave leave Sundancer alone to partake in his simple joys.
