Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes hiding under dead leaves and attacking your ankles when you pass by.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Having once nearly choked on a badly-chewed bit of food, this little hatchling has developed a habit of rinsing his mouth with water after he eats. He tips his head back and exhales with the water in the back of his throat to get a thorough rinse. He likes the fresh feeling in his mouth after he spits out the rinse water.

As one observer put it, "Garglar's gargling guards 'gainst gagging."
