And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Turii, though she looks like a child, is really an immortal and unaging being with the body of a normal young silver-scaled dragon, and the soul of a nature goddess from another world. She lives in a giant tree she has lovingly grown, and watches over the area from its branches. Though she no longer commands nature, Turii takes her new self-imposed duty as protector of her small forest very seriously, and dragons that underestimate her often leave with nasty injuries.
