Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Twili is the daughter of Astra, Queen of Night, and—unbeknownst to all but her mother—Sarastro, King of Day. Growing up in the peaceful kingdom of Night, Twili has never known oppression or war and she has developed an appreciation for knowledge and erudition under her mother's tutelage. The only bad thing in her life so far are the days when her mother is called away to protect their home from the neighbouring kingdom of Day. In those times Twili worries about her mother and she just wishes that the ruler of Day would cease his attacks, so that they can live out their lives in peace. Although she would never admit it, sometimes in her lair during the day, Twili prays that Sarastro will die because without their dragon ruler the humans of Day would surely stop their aggressive behaviour.
