Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Eternal Silver, or Eternal for short, is the daughter of her cave's guardians, Hopes Eternal and Silvaria. Eternal's mother is a healer, curing anything from torn wings to colds. The guardian dragon looks up to her, and wishes to follow in her footsteps. Being a different breed of dragon, she doesn't harness a lot of magic and can't heal a thing but broken spirits, and that's because of her personality. Truthfully, she is quite fond of solitude and doesn't engage in conversation unless she is spoken to first. She usually goes out into the forest so she can practice her magic, but almost always ends up gathering herbs so she can make medicine instead. Eternal is protective of her one true friend, one she actually talks to and spends time with, and that is Sannders, a whiptail dragon. Sannders encourages her to continue with her quest to be a healer, and when you combine that motivation with Eternal's determination and courage, it won't be long before there are two healers of the cave.
