Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As one would expect from the food service provider at the Dorsal Inn, ATFlN is rather particular about food. Sometimes she does buffets, in which case one can be sure to find diced melon and do-it-yourself waffles where the diner scoops batter from a magical, self-filling vat of batter into a waffle iron, which half the time is goopy because someone put too much batter in. When she does sit-down meals, this staple is exchanged for acai yoghurt, usually served with temperate berries that would be easier to get in the regions visitors come from than in the Madder Jungle. Other options may vary from day to day (but not meal to meal) based on her whims. Some complain about her rather unusual arrays of options, others love her selections, and waffle fans generally rejoice. One thing is for sure, though: regular visitors and those staying at the hotel for long durations get very familiar with the ATFlN's Diet.
