This hatchling could hardly be considered cute.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Draugr is sweet-tempered and bubbly despite its awful appearance. Both its parents love it very much, though Mayella has some trouble stomaching the odor emanating from this Black Marrow. Still, her love for all dragons extends even to this stinky little one, and its adorable antics help add to its cute appeal when there would otherwise be none. Draugr likes to crawl on its belly and sneak up behind other hatchlings to spook them.
