Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. New Year New You was the only dragon in her cohort born close to the new year, hence her name. She finds it to be sentimental and almost cloying, but she keeps it to honor her mother's wishes and because it does have a positive feel to it, a reminder that she can better herself. She lives in the Tall-Lands Part with a Ridge, and every other day, in the morning, she goes to the neighboring Eastern Bit to work at G.S.O. House Wears. Every new visitor to the shop mistakes the words on New Year New You's name tag to be a slogan in place of a name. Her boss's boss and the bakers next door are pretty serious individuals, the only folks she's met in Eastern Bit who've ever addressed her by name without a hint of disbelief or teasing.
