Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kiba Ryu was the most feared dragon around until Akai Ryu came into picture. Kiba's extreme speed was easily matched by Akai's brute strength. They are in a never ending battle to see who will come out as alpha male. Aside from hating Akai, Kiba also dislikes the warmer, brighter days and usually stays inside his gloomy, dimly lit cave on such days. One of the only things that he seems to enjoy is traveling to Akai's territory and dropping rocks and boulders on him. Kiba Ryu is roughly translated to Japanese as "fang dragon"
