Electric Dragons wield electricity with great prowess. Bright sparks race across these dragons’ bodies in a dazzling dance of light, complemented by the blindingly radiant sparks on their tails. Using their bellies and manes as stores for this electrical energy, Electric Dragons wield crackling magic, stunning and electrocuting their prey with a whip of their tail. During mating season it is typically those with the most brilliant sparks—an indicator of strength and hunting ability—that are drawn to each other.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Every evening, Amekaori is in charge of rounding up hatchlings in her family's section of the caves for dinnertime. Since she doesn't like yelling through the caverns to announce dinner is ready, she's outfitted the living spaces with a series of lightning mana crystals, which she can illuminate by sending a current of sparks through the network. Then she waits for the hatchlings to show up, and if there are still siblings missing, she'll light up the crystals again. The last call is the third round of sparks, and after that Amekaori goes through the caverns herself and bodily picks up the hatchlings to bring them to dinner before their food gets gobbled up by someone else.
