Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Because he's shorter than the average black dragon and has a pudgy, hatchling-like face, people gave De Semfhodte Juihaud the nickname "Baby Face". He hates the moniker, but his real name is difficult to remember, so his associates call him Jimmy or George to his face. A hot-tempered and violent dragon, he's famed for killing a large number of dragons who owed something to him, making no distinction between his actual enemies and bystanders. However, he loves his striped partners and treats them with care and respect. The ladies often travel with "Baby Face", but they seem to take no part in his plots and "businesses"—their only crime is associating with him.
