It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Her name means "Iris Flower" in Japanese. She is a daughter of Tenshi and Aimi, and is very close to her sister Aika. They're close in age, so they've always spent a lot of time together. Ayame is a very social dragon, who loves to gossip with the other females. Never anything mean spirited, just spreading the news of every little thing that has happened in the colony. She loves attending social gatherings, since it's a great stage for her stories and for her to gather new information. She's very different from her mate in that sense. Katsuro, is a rather solitary dragon, who hates being the center of attention. However, he's more than willing to sit through any gathering, as long as he's at her side. He loves listening to the sound of her voice, it's so melodic, it always brings a smile to his face. They became mates on a beautiful winter night, with just their friends and family present. They're madly in love. They are soul mates, and look forward to being together forever.
