Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arsen may well be the most unstable Firestorm sibling, which is definitely saying something. She acts almost feral the way she'll leap around and attempt to burn everything in sight when upset. It takes the conjoined efforts of her sisters, Ahpuch and Mare, to keep control of her. While Ahpuch is more merciful and tends to just keep Arsen calm and comfortable in her headspace, Mare tends to be more malicious. Because Arsen is so impressionable, Mare will actually control her and use her as her own personal guard dog. Ahpuch will chastise her for this, but their fighting can only solve so much. Arsen does seem to listen to the both of them equally, though doesn't seem to understand any differences in the ways they treat her. Ahpuch tries to protect her from her sister, but she isn't always around to do so, leaving Mare the opportunity to swoop in and abuse her. She mostly uses her to beat up on their other sister, Apollyon. Their parents never attempt to do anything about all this.
