Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very alert, and likes to watch what you’re doing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Silky Magic is consistently voted Best-Looking Dragon in the yearly student polls at the Academy. His natural walk is a tail-waggling strut, and his feathers sometimes appear to be ruffled by a breeze that no one else can feel. He doesn't seem that concerned about appearance, though. He's studious and bookish, often found reading books and essays during break times. He especially likes talking about land use trends, entomology, and elemental statistics in magic use, but most of his classmates don't have much interest in those subjects. Silky Magic gets good marks and has been called teacher's pet more than once, but he lacks a certain awareness: he happily accepts invitations to study groups from his peers, even those he's never spoken to before. He'll help them with their assignments in ways that more resemble doing their assignments for them, and later, he's confused why his classmates failed their in-class demonstrations and couldn't answer the teacher's questions.
