Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fury takes far more after his mother than he does after his father, hence his name, having inherited Strawberry's wicked temper and love of all things mischievous. This temperament meant that he was rejected when he tried to join his father's chapter within The Queen's Shadow, as he was too violent, something Fury is still terribly bitter about, especially after his younger brother was accepted.

Shortly after his rejection, Fury happened to meet an Avatar, a half-blind Destruction who introduced himself as the ousted true leader of the flock and that, if Fury joined his slowly growing group, he would be given the opportunity to show his parents that he was better than his brother in every way.

So join the young Gold did. But not for what the Avatar believes, no. For Fury knew the Avatar's real story, and is merely waiting for the chance to complete his true goal: earn his way into the Saints by bringing Gwyndolin the head of the Detested One.
