Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

While Daeven can appear to be closed off towards others, he is really just unsure how to approach dragons he does not know. However, even with close family and friends, Daeven is hard to read. He gives praise rarely and is quick to offer corrections. Outsiders see this as proof that he has no heart. Those who know him however, know that he does deeply care for the ones close to him, even if he rarely shows it.
