Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Broken Son grew up in a Mountainous place called Mont Great. Only  Ridgewing dragons lived there, and they were all the same colors, purple and blue. Broken Son was different then the others; he was born tan and red.  His Mother Mountain Dance and his Father Mountain Wind Song were both very much ashamed of him. They named him "Broken Son" because of his odd coloring—they thought something was wrong with him. All the other dragons picked on him calling him mean names like "Bloody Back"  and "Red Foot". Soon after being coming an adult, Broken Son left his home in the mountains in hopes of finding others like him. After a year of endless wondering he did find a female Ridgewing that was a odd color. Her name was "Censored Veal of Darkness". She told him that when she was born, her parents abandoned her because of her odd colors, and gave her a very depressing name as well.

They fell in love with each other and are now searching for others.
