Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
User Description
Behold, seeker of the dragon lore, Sephorgenin of the Red Dragons. He represents one of the few cases where eggs or hatchlings, after being abandoned by their mothers, are taken care of by their fathers. This unusual behaviour is seen mostly when the offspring of mixed breeding takes after the father. This mixed breeding also possibly is the cause why Sephorgenin came to suffer from the so-called frozen hatchling syndrome. Although very much like his father in appearance, Sephorgenin clearly shows the behaviour patterns of a Geode Dragon. He is not very active, to put it mildly, never learned how to fly although he has wings and has even been observed to try and devour stones. Strangely, his father still accepts him at his side, although the males of his breed are well-known for chasing off male offspring as soon as gender is revealed.
