Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lily Whiteflame is one of the Warriors in her clan. Being an Albino Dragon, she usually keeps away from sunlight and stays in the shade of the Nursery. She busies herself taking care of the hatchlings, eggs and the Aurorae, telling the young dragons stories when she is not getting one of them out of trouble. She has blamed herself for the loss of two Autumn Dragon eggs, the children of Mikuri Aquastar and Natana Summerleaf, who in fact were not kidnapped but chose to leave for other clans of their own free will. Both parents have forgiven her, though she might not have fully done so herself. Since this incident, she is more vigilant and once nearly clawed off Raven Nightclaw's tail when she mistook him for an intruder.
