Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Valeen is one of the dragons the males keep away from. If one of them gets within a few feet of her they can't help but swoon and try to impress her, sometimes putting them in danger with their showing off. They try their best to stay away from her now that it is March, because her eggs will only hatch in Febuary. Even though she gets so much attention from the males, the females aren't jealous and they get along quite well. Valeen's best friend in cave Ember is Ezarana, and she is only disliked by Shurikai, but she doesn't like anyone for that matter. Valeen finds lots of things to do instead of spending time with mates, though. She is a great help taking care of the young ones, and can calm them down easily when they get to riled up. All in all, Valeen is a very well-liked member of the cave.
