Two-Finned Blunas are a very social breed of dragon, living in packs of dragons called “pods.” Blunas are very curious and playful creatures and several dragons in a pod will often “play” with one other, chasing each other around, tossing seaweed back and forth, and riding ocean swells. They are occasionally seen swimming alongside whales and dolphins.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bluetrance never spent much thought on matters of blood. She knew that somehow, she looked like neither of her parents, and that this was a common mystery with some pairings of dragons, but she never thought it mattered. Her parents were who they were, she was hatched how she was hatched, and that was all.

When the Great War broke out, though, blood suddenly seemed to matter very much. Bluetrance could hardly keep track of who opposed whom, which forces wanted what, but when the dust settled, everything became harshly clear. Flameflow, a powerful Magma, claimed the territories of the old Weyr as his own, renaming it the Weyr of Flame and vowing to cleanse it of any impurities or disloyalties.

Apparently, Bluetrance's mysterious difference from her parents made her one of those impurities. Along with those who fought beside the traitorous King Yule, Bluetrance was driven out into the wastes with little choice but to join the Traitor King's Weyr. She ponders the luck of her blood daily.
