Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Skyscribe has always been more drawn to the water than the sky, though this contradicts her nature as a Skywing a bit. It made her an odd one among dragons of her own kind, but she found acceptance with those of the ocean, including her beloved mate, Stormsea. The two of them lived in the Featherwing Weyr with the sea-dragons, raising their hybrid offspring in calm and quiet peace.

Then the War came. With few defenses against attack, Skyscribe had to flee to the skies, out of reach of the violence, to hide with magic among the clouds above the Scatterfall Peak until the War ended. When the dust settled below, she learned that the Featherwing Weyr had been destroyed, all 'impure' dragons killed or driven out to die in the wastes.

It's too unsafe for Skyscribe to leave the safety of the secret city-states of the Cities of Snow and Cloud, hidden in plain sight in the clouds of the mountains. But when she can, she dips low to the sea and searches for Stormsea, for any of her hybrid family.
