Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Erebos is one of the first dragons in the Dark Sun clan. Like other elders, he is well respected though he earns his reputation not only from the duration he stays in the clan but also from his ferocious battle lust. Marcell Erebos, which means "the warlike darkness", reflects how his clan mates view him, a dragon that brings misery and destruction to all that dare to cross his path.

With a spirit made of steel and a temper that has been forged with inferno fire, Erebos strikes fear into the hearts of many dragons, friends and foes alike. Few want to tempt his wrath and so they all admire him from afar with awestruck eyes. Only his mate knows that Erebos is an affectionate dragon who can be surprisingly gentle sometimes. All dragons think the clumsy and vulnerable Amabel cannot survive the harsh life in the Dark Sun without Erebos. In fact, it is Erebos that has to rely on his mate to fill the loneliness of his fierce character.
